When couples think about incorporating color into their wedding day, they often focus on florals, bridesmaid dresses, and even linens. But one of the best places to introduce your wedding palette is actually within your invitation suite. Thoughtful use of color can easily take your wedding stationery from plain and simple to memorable, all while helping establish a cohesive aesthetic that carries through every detail of your celebration. Your invitation suite offers countless opportunities to bring your wedding colors to life. Whether you opt for subtle accents or bold pops of color, these thoughtful design choices can transform your invitations while giving guests a glimpse of the celebration to come. Ready to add a little personality to your invitation suite? Here are 8 ways to incorporate color into your wedding invitations.

Have your invitation printed in colored ink or opt for having your names and headers stand out in your main invitation color. Think about how many colors you’d ideally like to incorporate, as well as the selected print method. While digital flat printing allows freedom for endless color options, specialty printing like letterpress will significantly impact the total cost as you’ll need multiple printing plates for each color you want to include. For this reason, I recommend couples pick no more than two colors for letterpress printing.
Colored paper stock is a beautiful way to incorporate your wedding palette into your invitation suite. Make a statement by printing your main invitation on a colored cardstock with white ink or metallic foil, or take a softer approach by introducing color through your insert cards while keeping the invitation itself on a traditional white or ivory stock.

Belly bands pack a big punch without breaking the bank. Made of paper or translucent vellum, this invitation accessory wraps around each invitation suite to help hold the cards together in one place. Belly bands come in a variety of colors and can also be personalized with your names, monogram crest, or even a pattern.
Not a fan of the paper belly band wraps? Tying ribbon around your invitation suite to hold the insert cards together just might be what you’re looking for. From luxurious velvet and silk to organic torn cotton or modern satin, there’s a ribbon style that can fit within your wedding style.

Pockets can add both personality and function. Pocket folds are booklet-style folios with a single interior panel for an invitation and a pocket to neatly hold and keep your insert cards organized. Back pockets offer a modern twist on the traditional pocket fold with your main invitation mounted on the front and the insert cards are neatly tucked into the back pocket when flipped over. You’ll often hear me refer to back pockets as business on the front, but a party in the back!
Another favorite Lace and Belle embellishment is the envelope liner. Whether you choose a solid color, pattern, or venue illustration, envelope liners create an unexpected layer of personalization. Not to mention, this wedding stationery accessory gives an extra layer of protection during its journey with the postal service.

Wax Seals are my absolute personal favorite embellishment for so many reasons. They add dimension with a timeless vignette incorporating your initials, monogram crest, or a motif and an easy way to subtly incorporate color into your invitation suite.
Colored envelopes are the easiest way to have your invitations stand out from the every day mail. Envelopes in a soft hue, vibrant color, or modern black will immediately have your guests excited before they even open it. You can also have your response envelopes in color, too!
From ink color and paper choices to belly bands, ribbon, pockets, envelope liners, wax seals, and even the envelopes themselves, there are so many ways to incorporate color into your invitation suite. If you’re ready to begin designing your wedding invitations, I’d love to hear more about your vision. INQUIRE HERE for your 2027 wedding!
