2016: A Year in Review

My oh my…what an amazing year it has been! I’m so grateful for having the opportunity to work with so many lovely couples and clients in 2016. The last year brought success, challenges, and even took me on a new journey of growth by opening my heart to learn new techniques. I forced myself out of my comfort zone and in turn, celebrated so many wonderful milestones. And, through all the ups and downs, if there’s one thing that I’ll carry with me through the New Year, it’s to celebrate all the victories, both big and small! After having such a great year, I’m excited to welcome 2017 and look forward to all the exciting adventures I have in store for the year ahead. Collaboration

2016 started off on a high note with many goals I wanted to accomplish. In February, I participated in the Hudson Wedding Social (among many other creative professionals) at Battello in Jersey City, where I had the opportunity to showcase my invitation designs and chat with engaged couples and their families.

Around the same time I also collaborated with Petite Seats, Pretty Posh Designs, Stephanie Massaro Photography, Yulissa’s Creations, and Perfectly Styled + Sweet on a Tutu Cute Valentine’s Day styled shoot, which ended up being featured on Kate Aspen!

One of my favorite things that comes from collaboration are the friendships. This year, I’m particularly thankful for working with Kiamarie of KSS Photography, who captured so many lovely product photos (like this one here) and headshots for my new website. I can’t wait to join creative forces in the New Year. (P.S. Kiamarie is hosting a Darling Workshop on April 23rd that you don’t want to miss. (Excuse me while I do a happy dance!)

In the Media

Contemporary Weddings Magazine featured Samantha and Thomas’ August 7, 2015 wedding and my Hello Darlin’ note cards in the Spring/Summer 2016 edition. They also featured Missy and Justin’s gold foil and letterpress invitations in the Fall/Winter 2017 edition. And, just a few months ago, I received news that New Jersey Bride featured Missy and Justin’s beautiful wedding at The Ryland Inn on their blog.

Growth

It’s been said that “comparison is the thief of joy” and it couldn’t be more true. Hand lettering has been something I wanted to offer for a while now, but I didn’t think my style was good enough. I found myself comparing my lettering style to others, but when I finally made a decision and intention to stop comparing, I learned to love my own work.

It was now or never. After all, there will never be that “perfect” time.

It was during the peek of wedding season, I began offering hand lettered designs to my engaged couples. I got to create a rather large hand lettered chalkboard ceremony program sign for Jordan and Hans, a hand lettered mirror seating chart for Nicole and Tim, hand lettered escort card tags (image right, captured by Michelle Wolfe Photography) and an Instagram wood slice for Kara and John. I learned new techniques and couldn’t be more excited to expand my services even more in 2017.

Rebrand

With less than two weeks left to close out 2016, I decided to announce my rebrand. Lace and Belle still holds the aesthetic that has been a part of the brand from the very beginning: timeless romance with an authentic, yet rustic modern approach that conveys a heartfelt message. In 2017, I intend to let go of fear of failure and self doubt and look forward to collaborating with new friendors! I’ll be sharing more of my 2017 goals in the New Year, but tell me. What are you looking forward to most in 2017?
