During wedding invitation consultations, one of the most popular questions that gets asked is “When should we mail out our wedding invitations?” Well, I’m here to tell you it’s as easy as pie! Your wedding invitations should be sent out SIX to TEN weeks prior to your wedding day. My best advice? Don’t give guests too much time to respond as they are more likely to forget to send their response card back, leaving you to track those guests down later.
Are you hosting a destination wedding? Then your invitations should be sent out approximately three months beforehand, especially if your destination wedding is abroad. This will ensure guests have plenty of time to make any necessary travel arrangements. *Think taking time off from work, arranging for pet or childcare, as well as, booking flights, and hotel accommodations!
Now you also might be asking…what about the date for the rsvp cards? First, find out when you need to have your final head count given to your venue and/or caterer. This is generally 1-2 weeks before your wedding. From there add on another 2 weeks. Keeping this in mind, the date you’ll write on your response card will be about 3-4 weeks prior to your wedding day. Use this example below and you’ll be right on track with your wedding invitations!
Knowing these important dates for your wedding invitation suite is so helpful as you begin to embark on the design process for your 2020 or 2021 wedding. Do you have any questions?
